When I first came to Sydney I found the place overwhelming as there was so much on offer. But over time I gradually began to find lots of Sydney’s secrets and was surprised not all the locals even know them. As a result of this I began my own social walking tours group to show people where they can find the great harbour views, the great café spots and some nice things about the city they weren’t expecting before.

Like having your own local tour guide!

If you can't afford to hire a local to take you around Sydney, no worries because this book is pretty much the same thing. Everything you need to know to really explore the city is right here, from where to find the free bus that takes you around town to the best place for a cuppa joe. As an American accustomed to tipping, I was reassured to see tips are not expected (you have no idea the anxiety that can cause some of us while traveling abroad!). Of course all the main destinations are covered, from the iconic Sydney Opera House that we've all seen in a million travel photos to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There's stellar advice on the best spots to visit via the ferries, including a Coffee Cruise that is now on my list. Beaches, cafes, historical sites, it's all covered in here.

I have family in Sydney but I have never been. I was curious about whether it would be a place that I would enjoy going to with the distance being so great.
I found this book to be a great little tourist book for helping find your way around. It is full of information on where to go, what to do and how to get there. It even has information on where to stay and eat out. Every question you could hope to ask is answered in this book.
If you want to read an honest tourist book by someone who knows Sydney like the back of their hand, then this is the book for you.

Easy to read and super comprehensive!

David Newton has done a fantastic job writing 'The Local Sydney Tour Guide' it's fantastic to have the recommendations from a local regarding where to eat and exactly what attractions are worth checking out.
I've been to Manly once before but I look forward to checking it out in greater detail next time I'm in Sydney thanks to the new found information I've acquired from the Local Sydney Tour Guide.
I hope Mr Newton writes a Melbourne tour guide next :)
